Macy Catheter Moment

Nargis Nardi MSN, RN, CHPN, WCC // Director of Clinical Development // Rainbow Hospice & Palliative Care of Illinois

A medical professional recalls her first use of the Macy Catheter on an end-of-life patient, who experienced his last hours of life in peace and comfort rather than in pain and agitation thanks to the catheter.

“When you think of people who are dying and they have respiratory distress, they cannot really absorb the oral morphine or lorazepam. This [route of med administration] is going to give them quicker absorption and they are going to be able to be comfortable and die at peace at home with their families.”
